I recently saw a post that had disabled comments. The author wrote in the last line of the post something like this: "I disabled comments because I'm not fishing for them." Huh? I've never thought of it like that before. I mean, most people automatically post entries without even thinking about disabling comments. There are, of course, many people who do like to go fishing for comments, but I would never get rid of the comment option all together just to make sure it didn't look like I was fishing. What I mean is, does this user think the rest of are always fishing for comments? Sure, I love to get comments. Who doesn't? But I wouldn't say I fish for the exactly. I like to hear the opinions of others more than getting a large number of comments. I even felt a little insulted by this post. Does it look like I'm going fishing when I comment on other peoples entries? Am I simply going fishing by enabling comments on entries?
What do you think? Are we going fishing for comments all the time? Is it bad to do so?

I don't think its fishing unless you actually ask for them. Having comments enabled is just the default settings, and part of getting feed back from the community.
@AlterEgo909 - Yeah, I definitely agree!
